Creating a Different Future Through the Pursuit of Performance Excellence In 2004, Advocate Good Samaritan Hospital launched an organizational transformation called Moving from Good to Great. At the heart of this strategy was an intention to become "the best place for physicians to practice, associates to work and patients to receive care." Good Samaritan's organization-wide commitment to pursue performance excellence has led to numerous breakthroughs in clinical and service outcomes and ultimately to its selection as the 12th healthcare recipient of a Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award in 2010. Many of the approaches that have contributed to Good Samaritan's successful journey can be applied to any organization seeking to achieve breakthroughs in performance. This presentation will describe the critical and synergistic approaches required to transform and achieve sustainable success.
